Become a Guardian with Lil’ Star Siberians
Have you ever dreamed of raising a litter of adorable Siberian kittens? Our Guardian Program offers families the opportunity to experience the joy of raising kittens while providing a loving forever home to one of our beautiful Siberians.
Being a guardian is a unique and rewarding experience, and we want every family to understand what’s involved before deciding if it’s the right fit.
Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about becoming a guardian, including your responsibilities, compensation, the supplies and support we provide, and what to expect throughout the process.
How Our Guardian Program Works
As a guardian, you’ll welcome a breeding-quality Siberian cat or kitten into your family as your own beloved companion while she remains part of our breeding program for a limited number of years.
Guardians purchase their cat at our regular pet price, as she is their forever pet. In exchange for helping raise her kittens, guardians receive compensation for each litter, recognizing their time, dedication, and care.
Throughout the experience, we work closely with our guardians, providing supplies, education, guidance, and ongoing support.
Location Requirements
We primarily seek guardian families located within 30 minutes of St. George, Utah, but we’re also open to families in the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas areas who are willing to travel when needed.
This may include bringing your female to us or coordinating transportation for planned breeding arrangements. Flexibility and reliable communication are especially important for families living farther away.
Your Role as a Guardian
Your most important responsibility is providing a safe, stable, loving home where your Siberian can thrive as a cherished member of your family.
When your female is ready to have kittens, you’ll also play an exciting role in helping welcome and raise her litter.
As a guardian, your responsibilities include:
● Daily care: Providing quality nutrition, grooming, enrichment, routine veterinary care, and everyday pet expenses.
● Safe environment: Keeping your cat strictly indoors or within a secure catio. Unsupervised outdoor roaming is not permitted.
● Communication: Staying in regular contact, responding to messages within approximately 12–24 hours, and notifying us when your female begins a heat cycle.
● Breeding coordination: Making your female available for planned pairings and accommodating scheduled visits or transportation arrangements when needed.
● Pregnancy and delivery: Preparing a quiet, comfortable birthing space, monitoring your female throughout pregnancy, and being present and prepared to assist during delivery.
● Newborn kitten care: Monitoring kittens closely, recording daily weights, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and watching for any concerns.
● Raising and socializing kittens: Providing daily interaction, age-appropriate enrichment, and gentle socialization until the kittens are approximately 11–12 weeks old.
● Weekly updates: Sharing photos and videos so we can follow the kittens’ development and keep their future families updated.
● Following program guidelines: Maintaining our nutrition, health, safety, and kitten-care standards throughout your participation.
Raising kittens can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but it also requires time, flexibility, and dedication.
While much of the experience is filled with adorable moments, newborn kittens occasionally need extra attention, including overnight monitoring or supplemental feeding. We want our guardians to feel prepared for both the joys and the responsibilities.
My Role as Your Breeder
While you provide the loving home and hands-on care, I handle the breeding program itself, including the financial investment, breeding decisions, veterinary expenses related to breeding, and placement of the kittens.
My responsibilities include:
● Health and genetic testing: Arranging appropriate health screenings and genetic testing for our breeding cats.
● Breeding planning: Researching pedigrees, selecting compatible pairings, coordinating breeding schedules, and making decisions that prioritize health, temperament, and genetic diversity.
● Breeding-related veterinary care: Covering pregnancy-related medical needs, breeding expenses, and kitten veterinary care, including unexpected emergencies such as C-sections.
● Stud management: Maintaining and caring for our breeding males, including their housing, enrichment, health care, and breeding arrangements.
● Kitten placements: Managing our waitlist, screening prospective families, matching kittens with their future homes, and handling contracts and payments.
● Business operations: Managing our website, marketing, registrations, records, and the ongoing expenses associated with maintaining our breeding program.
● Supplies and education: Providing essential birthing and kitten-care supplies, training resources, and ongoing guidance throughout the experience.
● Long-term support: Standing behind our kittens through our health guarantee and supporting their families long after they leave our care.
My involvement continues year-round, whether or not a particular female is expecting kittens.
You will never be expected to handle the business side of breeding or find homes for the kittens. Your focus is on providing a wonderful home for your cat and helping her raise healthy, happy, well-socialized kittens.
Understanding Our Partnership & Compensation
Our Guardian Program is designed to recognize the important role both parties play while keeping responsibilities clearly defined.
Guardians provide something incredibly valuable: a loving family environment and the dedicated, hands-on care involved in raising a litter.
As the breeder, I carry the larger financial investment, the ongoing operational expenses, the responsibility for breeding decisions, and the financial risks associated with pregnancy, veterinary emergencies, kitten placements, and our health guarantee.
There are also years of planning, experience, relationship-building, and investment behind every successful litter.
Guardian compensation is therefore based on the important care and services guardians provide, not a percentage of kitten sales or the overall revenue of the cattery.
This structure allows guardians to enjoy the rewarding experience of raising kittens and receive meaningful compensation without taking on the financial risks and extensive responsibilities of operating a breeding business.
It also allows me to maintain the high standards of care, health testing, individual attention, and lifelong support that define Lil’ Star Siberians.
Guardian Compensation
Guardians are compensated per litter based on the number of healthy kittens born.
Compensation per HEALTHY kittens born:
• 1 kitten → $1,000
• 2 kittens → $1,800
• 3 kittens → $2,700
• 4 kittens → $3,500
• 5 kittens → $4,200
• 6 kittens → $4,800
• 7 kittens → $5,500
Compensation recognizes the time, commitment, and hands-on care involved in raising a litter and can help offset the original purchase price of your Siberian.
The full compensation and terms are outlined in our Guardian Agreement.
Supplies We Provide
We want every guardian to feel prepared and confident, especially when welcoming their first litter.
Before your female is due, we’ll help you get everything ready and provide an initial supply kit with many of the essentials needed for delivery and newborn kitten care.
Birthing & Nesting Supplies
● Queening box or birthing cave
● Waterproof pads
● Heating pad
Newborn Kitten Care
● Digital scale
● Kitten formula
● Feeding bottles and syringes
● Calcium and colostrum supplements
● Bulb syringe
Starter Essentials
● Approximately 20–30 lbs of raw food, depending on litter size
● High-quality kitten kibble
● Kitten-safe litter
● Small kitten litter box
Many of these supplies are precautionary, but having them available can make a tremendous difference if a kitten needs additional assistance.
Reusable supplies remain the property of Lil’ Star Siberians and are returned when no longer needed or at the end of the program.
Food, litter, and other consumable supplies are provided initially, with guardians responsible for replenishing them as needed.
Guardian Education & Ongoing Support
One of my biggest priorities is making sure our guardians feel knowledgeable, comfortable, and supported throughout the entire experience.
You don’t need to be an expert in raising kittens before joining our program. What matters most is your willingness to learn, follow our guidance, and provide attentive care.
I’ve created an Instagram education library for our guardian families, filled with helpful videos, practical tips, and step-by-step guidance.
Our educational resources cover topics such as:
● Preparing for pregnancy and delivery
● Recognizing the signs of labor
● Assisting during birth when necessary
● Monitoring newborn kittens and tracking weight gain
● Understanding kitten development week by week
● Introducing food, litter training, and socialization
● Recognizing when additional care or intervention may be needed
● Preparing kittens for their forever homes
You can watch these videos at your own pace and revisit them whenever you need a refresher.
And of course, I’m always just a message or phone call away when you have questions, concerns, or need extra guidance.
